All the technology in the world that is meant to help us communicate effectively and efficiently isn't worth a thing if it's not used properly...or used at all!
I needed to reach another school this morning on a rather pressing issue. It took me 23 calls to get through to someone who could help. Three times the switchboard answered - twice the switchboard's voicemail kicked in. The three times I reached the operator, I identified myself and said I needed to speak with a "live" person on a matter of some importance.
Three times she sent me to different voice-mailboxes.
There HAS to be a better way to provide customer service to our patrons.

Then there's this...I suppose if I were in the right mood, I might laugh, but the more looked at this, the angrier I became...
...and I couldn't help but hear Crosby, Stills, and Nash singing in the background...Teach Your Children
(by Graham Nash)
You, who are on the road
Must have a code
That you can live by.
And so, become yourself
Because the past
Is just a goodbye.
Teach your children well
Their father's well
Will slowly go dry
And feed them on your dreams
The one they pick
The one you'll go by.
Don't you ever ask them why
If they told you, you would cry
So just look at them and sigh
And know they love you.
And you (Can you hear and)
Of tender years (Do you care and)
Can't know the fears (Can you see we)
That your elders grew by (Must be free to)
And so please help (Teach your children)
Them with your youth (You believe and)
They seek the truth (Make a world that)
Before they can fly (We can live in)
