Hi Everyone! I appreciate those that have been looking for me...but, hey it takes time to grow a beard. And set up the tree. And the train that runs around the tree. And the village that the train runs through as it runs around the tree. Not to mention the outside lights. We live in the flight path of DFW Airport and it won't surprise anyone if a jet mistakenly lands on our street...
Actually, I was under a deadline to finish the art work for a Children's book that my wife and her sister wrote called Logan's Christmas Wish. The final submission to the publisher required over 20 illustrations - several of them full page. But it's done. It was quite an adjustment to switch from writing back to a much-loved part of my past life: drawing illustrations.
I can't promise anything, but if you listen to KLTY here in the Dallas/Fort Worth area, you just MIGHT hear something about the book. If anyone remembers Logan's story about his friend Connor from last Christmas...the story involves a simple wish...THOUSANDS of EMAILS from around the world...and even out of it - the International Space Station got involved...Channel 11 News covered it...a very special story about a very special little boy and his best friend who has cancer. It has everything that Christmas is all about. Now, it's soon to be a book.
If nothing else, it was a blast and definitely put me in the holiday spirit. So the blogging suffered a bit, but I'm back and full of...uh...umm...lots of new ideas for posts!
My mother-in-law's open chest surgery was successful. My brother's surgery went well - the growth in the pancreas turned out NOT to be cancer. We still have the issue of the kidney cancer, but all things considered, God is continuing to work in the lives of our families.
Last week we went with our son and his wonderful wife Erin for a sneak peak at our grandson. Ethan isn't due until January, but the kids just HAD to see him. So Erin...what's the word? "Did" a sonogram? "Got" a sonogram? It was a "4D" imaging "thing". Honestly, I'm incredibly old fashioned and was NOT looking forward to the whole thing. But actually, it was a fascinating hour of watching my grandson move around, smile, suck, and float in the last truly safe environment he'll ever know.
As far as work is concerned, our campus wiki is shaping up. Teachers are adding webpages. The paperless office is working GREAT! And we're wrapping up a Student Engagement Survey that will provide the grist for many, many professional posts and discussions in the near future.
A special shout out to Dy/Dan and his blog as well as LeaderTalk for being named finalists in the Edublogs Best of the Year Awards.
Well, if there was ever a signal to stop writing, Shrek's Christmas TV Special is about to start.
The word 'doppelganger' comes to mind. Mrs. Claus is very pretty.
